The Master Plan

It has occurred to me that it might be helpful to leave a brief schedule of our upcoming travels here, just so everyone knows our plans, so here goes:

June 27-July 1....Los Angeles

July 4-9....Petoskey with family

August 5-13....Texas with family (and the totally sweet Marlows)

August 16: M-DAY (moving day)

It seemed like a lot more traveling when I was thinking about it, I guess when I write it down it's not so much. Anyway, now you know! I've made a few additions to my blog, including a link to my husband's website. It's possible we'll be moving my blog to that site and making it "our blog", I'll let you know!

Cool book

I'm reading a book called The God Who Is There by Francis Schaeffer right now, he was this amazing Christian philosopher and the book was written in response to the modern philosophy developing in the 60s. I process externally and no one is home, so I thought I'd share a thought here. Schaeffer talks about the development of this belief that antithesis does not exist, the idea that A=non-A, meaning there is no objective truth, that nothing has an absolute opposite. The belief that men can synthesize, for example, the thesis that God exists with its anti-thesis God does not exist and somehow that this is rational and logical. He says that the danger is not in the conclusion, but rather in the way a person gets to the conclusion, meaning the way of thinking. I can see how this has infiltrated the evangelical Christian church, as I see many churches play with the concept of absolute truth in an effort to be acceptable to the world. But consider what Schaeffer says:

"Finally, and with due reverence, may I emphasize that not only should we have genuine compassion for the lost among whom we live, but also concern for our God. We are his people, and if we get caught up in the other methodology, we have really blasphemed, discredited and dishonored him-for the greatest antihesis of all is that God exists as opposed to his not existing; he is the God who is there." (p. 68)

I'm not much of a philosopher so I hope I am interpreting Schaeffer correctly, feel free to post comments, questions, etc. Have a good day!

Computer illiterate?

Alright, my blog is being all weird, I'm testing this out to see if it posts this message. It's exciting to get comments posted (thanks tricia and jim!). I am hoping my blog will look more like something I've created by next week, Andy comes home Saturday and he'll teach me how to change things then.

Still looking for apartments in Cali, I feel I'm actually having a lot of luck so far, and we go visit June 27, I'm so excited to actually see everything! God bless!

Lucy...she's a little, uh...bigger Posted by Hello

Sid...the super tiny kitty! Posted by Hello

A word about the title...

Wondering why I chose "economy of mercy"? It's a song by a band named Switchfoot:

In the economy of mercy
I am a poor and begging man
In the currecny of grace
Is where my song begins
In the colors of Your goodness
In the scars that mark you skin
In the currency of Grace
Is where my song begins

I love this song and it was the inspiration for the name of my blog because I do believe that "my song" (my joy, life, purpose) begins in the grace of God.

On a sillier note, I am including some pics of our kitties, Lucy & Sid, both girls, enjoy!

at our wedding  Posted by Hello

Me & Andy! Posted by Hello

It begins!

Well, I've been inspired! As a result of my complete inadequacy in the area of keeping in touch with the people I love I've decided to give into the blog world. Hopefully I can handle this! I guess we'll start with the latest happenings in our household:

Married life:
Yes, I got married October 23, 2004 to Andy and we are still blissfully happy :o) Practically since I met Andy he's been my bestfriend, my shoulder, my supporter, my cheerleader, my first "growed up" love, and I was overjoyed to add "husband" to the long list. He's a lucky guy :o)

Work:
I am a pediatric nurse at a hospital here in Kzoo and I absolutely love it. The hours are tough, but it is so amazing to work with these kids. It can be sad, and sometimes really hard, but I consider it a blessing of great wealth to be able to go through these families worst days with them and offer some comfort, no matter how small.

The Big News: No, we're not having a baby! We are moving to Los Angeles, California in August of 2005 so that Andy can return to school to pursue his dream of computer animating...we're both really excited about this crazy opportunity and the Lord has been so faithful as we've moved ahead with our plans (which must really be His plans because of the way He has been blessing all of our efforts!) The program will take a little under two years and I'll work as a nurse out there while he does school, after that...who knows!!

That's all for now, I promise to try and keep this updated as life continues to just fly by! God bless!
